Still within the deadline? Pay now
Pay at the official merseyflow.co.uk. Each crossing is a separate toll, so a return trip is two. Current prices are on our Mersey Gateway page.
Missed the deadline? What the Merseyflow PCN costs
Merseyflow sends a penalty charge notice (PCN) of £50 to the registered keeper, and the unpaid toll is still due on top.
| When you pay the PCN | Penalty |
|---|---|
| Within 14 days (with the toll) | £25 |
| Within 28 days | £50 |
| After 28 days (charge certificate) | £75 |
How do I challenge a Merseyflow PCN?
If you had already paid, weren’t the keeper, the vehicle was stolen or cloned, or you’re registered for the Halton local user discount, make a representation to Merseyflow. If it’s rejected, you can appeal to the independent Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
How do I avoid it next time?
- A Merseyflow account pays each crossing automatically and is cheaper per crossing. Halton households can join the Local User Discount Scheme (£12 a year) for free crossings.
- EveryDrive detects the crossing from your phone’s location and reminds you before the deadline — useful when you only use a crossing occasionally, or drive someone else’s car.
