Where is the Birmingham Clean Air Zone?
The zone covers Birmingham city centre: every road inside the A4540 Middleway ring road. You can drive on the Middleway itself without paying — it’s only when you turn off it towards the centre that you enter the zone. That’s why so many drivers enter by accident: a wrong turn off the ring road is enough.
Do I need to pay the Birmingham Clean Air Zone?
Only if your vehicle doesn’t meet the emissions standards: petrol cars need Euro 4 (most from 2006) and diesel cars Euro 6 (most from September 2015). Electric cars never pay. Use the checker above with your registration.
